Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut is the third remake of “A Star Is Born.” He stars as the male lead in this film, while Lady Gaga makes her big screen debut as the leading lady. So, a guy that’s never made a movie is telling a story for the fourth time and he cast someone who has never been a lead in a film. What can go wrong? Not much actually. This is one of the best films of the year, will garner plenty of awards buzz and rightfully so.
Fred Rogers, or more commonly known as Mister Rogers is most well known for hosting a children’s educational program on PBS. Millions of children, including myself grew up watching “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” and watched him put on a sweater and change shoes as he entered his house. But who was the real Fred Rogers? That’s the question asked by director Morgan Neville who is best known for his Academy Award winning documentary “20 Feet from Stardom.” Neville dives into Rogers’ childhood, his ideas behind the television show and much more in “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?”
This Saw V Commentary contains David Hackl, who served as production designer on Saw II, Saw III, and Saw IV, made his directorial debut in Saw V. The film focuses primarily on the events that led up to Detective Mark Hoffman becoming an apprentice of the Jigsaw Killer, as well as his efforts to prevent anyone else from learning his secret.
Saw V opened on Halloween 2008 and earned $30,053,954 in its opening weekend. It ranked second in box office rankings that weekend. It was the first time since the original film that a Saw film didn’t open #1 at the box office.
The rebooted trilogy that included digitally enhanced actors portraying apes, most notably Andy Serkis who played the lead, Caesar, comes to its conclusion in “War for the Planet of the Apes.” A film directed by Matt Reeves and also starring Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn and Amiah Miller.
With “War for the Planet of the Apes” only days away, I thought it would be fun to look back at how it all started. That film is “Planet of the Apes” made in 1968 by director Franklin J. Schaffner and based on the book written by Pierre Boulle.
The weekend of July 7th should show all studios that people are willing to go to a film no matter how long it has been in theaters. That should be evident by taking a look at this weekend’s top 5 grossing films which are very diverse, however “Spider-Man: Homecoming” took home the top prize with a big blockbuster ready for a wide release next week.
After the events of “Captain America: Civil War,” Peter Parker must now travel back home to New York and adjust to real life as a teenaged super-hero using Tony Stark as a mentor in “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”

In 1999, Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez wrote and directed one of the most successful independent films of all time when they made the critically acclaimed “The Blair Witch Project.” Now, seventeen years later, director Adam Wingard helms a new generation’s “Blair Witch” story which doesn’t veer too much off the course of the original story and still falls to the main criticisms of the first film.
